The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of a 25-year-old man, Khalid Ibrahim, from Magama-Gumau in Toro LGA of Bauchi State.

This confirmation was provided by the State Police Command's Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakili, during a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Wednesday.

The PPRO stated, "On Tuesday, 26th March 2024, at about 8:00 PM, the Command received a report of culpable homicide from Gumau outstation involving two individuals, Khalid Ibrahim, 25 years old, and Usman Ibrahim, 18 years old, both from Magama-Gumau town in Toro LGA of Bauchi State."

He continued, "The two individuals engaged in a fight during which Usman Ibrahim used a sharp knife against Khalid Ibrahim, causing a serious injury. Upon receiving the report, the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Mohammed, directed the DPO of Toro Division to promptly move to the scene."

"The victim was immediately evacuated and taken to General Hospital, Toro, for medical attention in accordance with the law and international best practices. However, upon arrival at the hospital, he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. His body was released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites," he added.

The PPRO expressed sympathy for the family of the deceased and urged parents and guardians to caution their children against unnecessary disputes and conflicts.

He further stated, "CP Auwal Musa Mohammed has instructed the DPO of Toro Division to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this incident. The findings of the investigation will be made public."

Reports indicate that the young man was stabbed with a sharp object, with some sources mentioning a dagger knife while others mentioned a sharpened ram horn as the weapon used.

Eyewitnesses reported a heated argument among a group of young men, including the deceased, near the end of Ramadan on Tuesday, 26th March 2024. The argument escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing.
