Akwa Ibom man kills 75-year-old father for 'selling all his lands'


A man was arrested in Uruting village, Okobo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State for killing his 75-year-old father with a machete.


The suspect was part of 52 individuals apprehended for various crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking, cultism, and fraud, as announced by Akwa Ibom Police Commissioner Waheed Ayilara in Uyo on Friday.


According to Ayilara, the arrested suspect confessed to killing his father because the father had sold all the parcels of land he owned, including the one he had given to the suspect to build his house.


Additionally, Ayilara disclosed that on March 8, a man involved in producing adulterated fruit drinks and counterfeit products was arrested in Ayam village, Etinan Local Government Area.


On the same day, police prevented a man using Point of Sale machines for fraud from being attacked by his victims. The suspect's victims identified him, and N350,000 in cash was recovered during his arrest.
