Arizona woman arrested after police say she ran over girlfriend while drunk with child in the car
An Arizona woman was apprehended following an incident where she allegedly struck her girlfriend with a vehicle while driving, as reported by the authorities.
According to Glendale Police in Arizona, 30-year-old Josarina Woody was reversing out of a driveway around 9 p.m. on Feb. 23 when her girlfriend fell onto the roadway. Despite a bystander's warning to halt, Woody purportedly continued driving, running over her partner's body before departing the scene, according to police records.
Glendale is situated approximately nine miles northwest of Phoenix.
Woody was later intercepted by law enforcement officers and pulled over. With a 5-year-old child in the backseat, she was removed from the vehicle. Woody informed officers that she had consumed "a few cans of beer" but had ceased drinking before operating the vehicle. Authorities stated she appeared "unaware" of the incident where she allegedly struck her girlfriend in the street, suggesting she mistook it for a bump in the driveway.
She was taken into custody on Feb. 23 and charged with several offenses, including aggravated assault, extreme DUI, and endangering the life and well-being of a minor.
Police refrained from disclosing any identifying details or updates concerning the condition of the girlfriend or the child in the car's rear seat.
