Four people dead and five wounded in multiple stabbings in Illinois

Upon receiving multiple distress calls to various locations, the Rockford Police Department swiftly responded, discovering three victims deceased at the scene, with another succumbing to injuries upon arrival at the hospital. As of 4:15 pm local time, one injured individual remains in critical condition.

Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd has confirmed that a suspect is in custody and is currently being interviewed, with no other suspects being pursued at this time. Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana also addressed the media, noting that the incident spanned multiple addresses within the vicinity.

Sheriff Caruana described one victim as having sustained multiple stab wounds to the hands and face, with a Good Samaritan who intervened also requiring medical attention.
