Goods Worth Millions Destroyed As Fire Guts Idumota Market, Lagos
Millions of Naira worth of goods were destroyed on Wednesday as an early morning fire swept through shops in the Nnamdi Azikiwe and Docemo sections of Idumota Market in Lagos State.
The blaze affected three buildings, including two two-storey structures and one three-storey building known for retailing clothes, bags, and shoes.
Emergency services, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, have responded to the scene, initiating firefighting operations.
Margaret Adeseye, the Fire Service chief, stated, "Fire stations at Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju, and Alausa have mobilized resources to effectively manage the situation."
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, and no casualties have been reported as of now.
Adeseye urged residents to cooperate with emergency personnel and avoid the area for their safety.
