A tragic house fire in Pennsylvania claimed the lives of a 27-year-old father and four of his young children, while his fiancée and two other children managed to escape, authorities reported.
The devastating incident occurred shortly after midnight in Jeannette, where the intense flames engulfed the home, resulting in the deaths of Tyler King, 27, Kyson John, 7, Kinzleigh John, 6, Keagan John, 3, and 1-month-old Korbyn John.
Neighbor Jack Mull expressed sorrow, stating, "They’re just good people. It’s a shame, that family will never be the same again."
Miranda, the mother, found herself trapped on the back roof with a baby during the fire. Mull and firefighters came to their aid, helping them down from the roof. One of Miranda's sons, who sustained a broken leg, was also rescued.
Two children survived, ages 1 and 10. Miranda attempted to save more of her children but was unable to due to the overwhelming fire.
Fire Chief Bill Frye mentioned challenges faced by firefighters due to water supply issues, causing difficulties in extinguishing the flames. The fire also spread to a neighboring home but its occupants managed to escape unharmed.
Delena Lewis, Tyler King's mother, expressed the devastating loss for their families and the challenge of explaining such a tragedy to the surviving children.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
