Kidnapped Ekiti Students, Teachers Regain Freedom

Eight out of the nine individuals abducted from Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Emure Ekiti, Ekiti state, have been released by their captors. The victims, consisting of five pupils and three teachers, were freed in the early hours of Sunday, leaving only the bus driver still in captivity.


Ekiti State Command's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the release on Sunday morning and sadly reported that the bus driver is suspected to have been killed by the abductors.


Abutu mentioned, "All victims were rescued today at about 1.30am, but unfortunately, we lost the driver who was susceptibly killed by the abductors."


When questioned about any arrests made in connection with the abduction, Abutu stated, "Not yet, but the operation shall continue as we want to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law."


The abductions occurred on Monday evening when the school bus, transporting individuals back to Eporo after the school day, was attacked along Emure – Eporo Road in Emure- Ekiti. The assailants abducted five pupils, three teachers, and the driver from the bus.
