A man accused of murdering his stepmother, teenage sister, and the mother of his children in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was apprehended by police in Trenton, New Jersey.
Andre Gordon, 26, was found walking through the streets of Trenton, attempting to blend in with the crowd, on Saturday evening following two separate shootings that left three family members dead, shocking communities across two states.
The tragic chain of events began around 8:30 a.m. on Southard Street in Trenton, New Jersey, when Gordon, armed with a gun, approached a vehicle occupied by Sonya Hansen and her grandson. Fearing for their safety, Hansen's grandson fled the scene, prompting Hansen to seek refuge at her daughter's house.
Gordon then stole Hansen's vehicle and drove to a home on Viewpoint Lane in Levittown, Pennsylvania, where he forced his way inside. Once there, he fatally shot his 52-year-old stepmother, Karen Gordon, and his 13-year-old sister, Kera Gordon. Three other family members were present but escaped harm as Gordon left after failing to locate them.
Minutes later, Gordon broke into another residence on Edgewood Lane in Levittown, where he killed 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, the mother of his children. He also assaulted Daniel's mother with a weapon, leaving her hospitalized.
Subsequently, Gordon carjacked another individual at gunpoint at a Dollar General store in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. Thankfully, the carjacking victim was unharmed.
Armed with an AR-15 style weapon, Gordon was involved in a standoff with police at a residence on Phillips Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey. Although he initially evaded capture, he was eventually found unarmed and walking on New York Avenue in Trenton around 5 p.m. by patrol officers, who apprehended him without incident.
Gordon is currently in custody at Trenton Police headquarters, pending extradition back to Pennsylvania.
The motive behind the shootings, Gordon's criminal history, and his mental health or substance abuse issues, if any, have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
