Nigeria Air Force trainer plane crashes but pilots survive
A Nigerian Air Force Super Mushshak trainer aircraft experienced "a minor mishap" on Thursday, with both pilots surviving, according to the Air Force. The incident occurred around 1335 GMT near a military airfield in Kaduna, as the aircraft was returning from a routine training flight, stated Air Force spokesperson Edward Gabkwet.
The Nigerian Air Force has initiated a preliminary investigation to determine the immediate cause of the crash, with no further details provided in the statement.
This incident follows a December crash involving a Nigerian Air Force MI-35P helicopter, marking the third such occurrence since July.
While Africa's largest economy has had a history of poor air safety, there have been notable improvements in recent years.
