Police arrest suspected cultist with 155 live ammunition, four local weapons
The Osun State Police Command apprehended six suspected cultists in possession of 155 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
The suspects were captured at Ipetu-Ijesa motor park in the Oriade local government area of Osun state while attempting to board public transport out of town.
Reports indicate that the suspects arrived at the park in separate groups, arousing suspicion among park operators who promptly alerted the local police.
Upon investigation, four locally made cut-to-size pistols were also discovered in their possession.
Confirming the arrest on Sunday, Osun police command spokesperson Yemisi Opalola stated that the suspects confessed to being members of the 'eiye' confraternity from Ilorin, Kwara state. They revealed their intention to travel to Delta State for a cult-related operation before being apprehended.
Opalola stated, "We received information about suspected hoodlums believed to be involved in underworld activities sighted at Ipetu-Ijesa motor park. A police team responded and apprehended the six suspects."
She continued, "During the arrest, four cut-to-size locally made pistols along with 155 rounds of live 9mm ammunition were seized from the suspects."
"The suspects admitted to their affiliation with the eiye confraternity from Ilorin, Kwara state, and confessed their plans to engage in cult activities in Delta state," Opalola added.
