Josiah Kilman, the 18-year-old Campbellsville University freshman discovered "unresponsive" in his dorm room over the weekend, tragically passed away due to Asphyxia by Manual Strangulation, according to the Taylor County Coroner's Office. Kilman, a promising member of the university's wrestling team, was found in his room at the Christian college in Kentucky early Saturday morning and pronounced dead at Taylor Regional Hospital shortly after.

Following the discovery of Kilman's condition, an arrest warrant was issued for fellow student Charles E. Escalera, who was subsequently apprehended in connection with Kilman's death after a search led authorities to a barn in a nearby county. Escalera, also known as "Zeke," is facing charges of murder and second-degree burglary, with his bond set at $2 million. He remains in custody at Taylor County Detention Center as the investigation continues.

The motive behind the tragic incident remains undisclosed as the investigation progresses. Kilman, hailed from Columbia Falls, Montana, was remembered by his family as a devout Christian with a fervent passion for both athletics and his faith. Described as a compassionate and kind-hearted individual, Kilman's influence extended beyond the campus, touching the lives of many.

In a heartfelt tribute, Campbellsville University President Joseph Hopkins spoke of Kilman's profound impact within the community, emphasizing his unwavering faith and the light he brought to those around him. Kilman's legacy as a beacon of hope and inspiration lives on.
