The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said that the air part of Operation Hadarin Daji did airstrikes on two terrorist hideouts in separate attacks in Katsina and Zamfara.

The first strike on Tuesday aimed at terrorist leader Maudi Maudi, south of Tsaskiya in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State. According to NAF Director of Public Relations and Information AVM Edward Gabkwet, it was uncertain if Maudi Maudi was killed, but many of his gang members were taken out.

Gabkwet stated in a Thursday statement that after the strike, the targeted location was on fire, and a few survivors were seen fleeing to safety. "Though many terrorists were taken out, we're not sure if Maudi Maudi was one of them," he added.

Gabkwet also mentioned that a similar strike happened on Wednesday against terrorist leader Alhaji Na-Shama of Ussu village, Nasarawar Mailayi District in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara.

He said that reliable human intelligence confirmed the elimination of several of Na-Shama’s associates and the complete destruction of his camp and supplies. "We're not certain yet if Na-Shama is among the casualties," he said.

Gabkwet explained that the precise airstrikes have been helping protect civilian lives and destroying terrorists’ bases and supplies. "This active approach supports the mission goals of Operation Hadarin Daji, which primarily aims to secure the Northwestern region of Nigeria from terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry," Gabkwet said.
