Soldiers foil kidnap attempt on Kogi travellers, kill terrorists in Zamfara
Nigerian Army troops successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt on passengers in Kogi State and neutralized two insurgents in Zamfara State, according to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations.
In Kogi State, troops rescued passengers from three commercial buses attacked by criminals along Akpata-Obajana Road in Lokoja Local Government Area. The troops engaged the criminals and evacuated injured passengers for medical treatment.
In Zamfara State, troops raided a kidnappers’ den in Kuyambana general area, eliminating two insurgents in a gun battle.
The operation also led to the recovery of weapons and other items used by the insurgents. Troops destroyed the camp after the operation.
