A Versace sample sale in New York City had to be shut down by police after a violent altercation reportedly erupted among bargain-hunters.

Videos shared by TikTokers captured the chaos outside the Big Apple store following a dispute over line positions among the approximately 10,000 people who had queued for around 24 hours for the 80 percent discount event.

One intrepid shopper who traveled from out of state for the sale said: 'I can't believe it'

One witness described the scene as "chaotic" and mentioned that shoppers had even "broken the glass of one of the doors," with a girl requiring ambulance assistance after being "trampled."

"If you were thinking about coming to the New York City Versace sale, don't come," cautioned a woman at the scene on TikTok. "It's chaotic here. They even broke the glass of one of the doors... They've been fighting each other, some girl had to leave in an ambulance because she got trampled."

A man outside the store said the violence was sparked by a dispute about who was at the front of the line

According to another TikTok video from a man outside the store, the violence erupted due to a disagreement over line positions. "People ran to the front and then they stayed at the front, and then the people in the second batch argued about it and then total chaos ensued," he explained. His friend added, "They promised that the second half of the line was going to go in first before everybody else, but they didn't honor it... they canceled the sale!"

A time-lapse video of the long line revealed that nearly 10,000 eager bargain hunters had shown up for the event, only to end up empty-handed as it was shut down.

One woman described the scene as 'ghetto' and said shoppers had even 'broken the glass of one of the doors' while one girl had been taken away in an ambulance after she was 'trampled'

Other TikTokers captured the aftermath of the event, describing it as "a mess" with hundreds of people still lingering on the sidewalks after police intervention.

One shopper who traveled from out of state expressed disbelief, stating, "I came all the way to New York for the Versace sale and left with nothing... they shut the whole thing down. This is wild." She also mentioned confusion among shoppers about whether the sale was completely canceled or not.

The videos showed a scene of commotion with numerous people around and NYPD vehicles with flashing blue lights, highlighting the disruptive nature of the incident.

The exact cause of the alleged fight remains unclear.
