Jennifer Dennis lost her life savings after falling foul of a romance scam while she was grieving the loss of her husband

A 76-year-old widow, Jennifer Dennis from Georgia, found herself homeless after falling victim to a scam that drained her life savings.

She met a man named Caleb on Facebook, who claimed to be a doctor with the Red Cross in Yemen.

After months of building trust, Caleb convinced Dennis to move with him to North Carolina, promising a fresh start.

The pair agreed that Caleb would pay $600,000 toward their new home and Dennis would pay the remaining $70,000.

She wired $70,000 plus additional funds for a new home, only to discover it was a scam when they arrived in Cary.

Dennis' son Raymond pinpointed the moment he realized his mother's hopes of a new life was a scam

The surprised owner of the home informed the mother and son that he had lived at the property for years and was not selling.

Dennis immediately contacted Caleb who sent her a picture showing that he had supposedly been beaten up. "That was the last time I heard from him,"

Dennis and her son, Raymond, ended up sleeping in their car until they were gifted a camper. She now warns others about romance scams, highlighting the devastating impact on vulnerable individuals.
