Brooklyn pastor ‘Bling Bishop’ found guilty of spending $90,000 of his parishioner’s savings on luxury goods

In a federal court verdict on Monday, flashy Brooklyn pastor, Lamor Whitehead, dubbed the “Bling Bishop,” was found guilty of multiple counts, including wire fraud, attempted extortion, and making false statements to the FBI.

Whitehead, known for his extravagant attire and jewelry, was convicted in connection with three separate schemes.

The convictions stem from Whitehead's actions, which include defrauding a parishioner of $90,000 of her retirement savings, attempting to extort $5,000 from a businessman, and making false promises to secure a loan and real estate interests.

He falsely claimed to have connections to the New York City mayor in exchange for financial gain, according to the indictment.

US Attorney Damian Williams condemned Whitehead's actions, stating that he abused trust, engaged in fraudulent conduct, and misled federal agents.

Whitehead faces potential prison time for his crimes, with each count carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years, except for the false statements count, which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years.

Whitehead's attorney, Dawn Florio, announced plans to appeal the verdict. His sentencing is scheduled for July 1.
