A 46-year-old mother in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia has been arrested for allegedly plotting the contract killing of her 12-year-old daughter, citing a strained relationship and ongoing conflicts as her motive.
According to law enforcement, the woman, identified only as Svetlana, offered £930 (approximately 105,000 rubles) to a male acquaintance named Andrey, 36, to drown her daughter in the Bolshaya Karaganka River. Unbeknownst to her, the young girl had been secretly listening behind a door and overheard her mother's chilling request.

The incident reportedly took place in the Izmailovsky settlement. After making the arrangement, Svetlana sent her daughter out of the house with the man, who later revealed to the girl that he had no intention of harming her and would instead protect her. He took her to his home and contacted the police, providing full details of the mother’s murder plot.
Authorities said Svetlana was unable to explain her actions during interrogation. She is now facing charges of incitement to commit the murder of a minor, a crime that carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison under Russian law.

The 12-year-old victim has since been placed in care, along with her two younger siblings, aged 17 and six. Svetlana also has an 18-year-old adult daughter.
The investigation is ongoing as officials continue to gather evidence in what is being described as a deeply disturbing case of familial betrayal.
