Florida Woman Found Alive After 3 Days Trapped in Shipping Container
A 52-year-old Florida woman, Marlene Lopez, was reported missing after her family last saw her at her home in Cocoa on Monday, March 4. Concern grew when she failed to pick up her son, prompting a coworker to report her missing on Wednesday.
After an extensive search and posting a missing person bulletin, Cocoa police received an unexpected call. Lopez had been found locked inside a shipping container next to a local business, where she had been banging on the door for help.
Fortunately, Lopez was found unharmed but was taken to the hospital for evaluation and possible dehydration.
However, the circumstances leading to her confinement remain unclear.
The owner of the shipping container, Tyler Sonneberg, stated that it was typically used to store lawnmowers.
He recalled seeing Lopez in the area on Monday but claims he only locked the container on Tuesday afternoon and did not hear anyone inside.
Sonneberg discovered a lighter and pipe in the container after Lopez was found, suggesting she may have wandered in by herself and lost consciousness.
The Cocoa Police Department is currently investigating how Lopez ended up locked inside the shipping container.
