A 10-year-old girl became the lone survivor of a brutal triple homicide by pretending to be dead after being shot.
On the night of June 30, 2021, Xavier Davis, now 32, entered the apartment of Gregory Carhee, 35, and Donyavia Lagway, 29, and opened fire, killing both parents and their 6-year-old daughter, Harmony Carhee. The only witness left alive was their 10-year-old daughter, who had also been shot but managed to survive by feigning death until the killer left the scene.
The Carhee-Lagway family lived in a modest apartment in southwest Houston. What started as a normal evening quickly turned into a nightmare when Davis, reportedly wearing gloves and armed with a gun, forced his way inside. According to prosecutors, Davis executed both parents and their youngest daughter before turning the gun on the 10-year-old girl.
Miraculously, the child survived her wounds. Demonstrating remarkable composure, she waited for Davis to leave before grabbing her baby brother and calling for help using her mother’s phone. "She showed a level of courage and presence of mind that’s beyond anything we’ve seen," said one investigator. Further investigation revealed that the attack was not random—it was planned.
Authorities say Davis was in communication during the murders with Alexus Williams, who allegedly ordered the killings via FaceTime. Williams had previously been in a relationship with Lagway and, according to detectives, orchestrated the attack in a revenge-driven plot.

Court records indicate that Williams offered Davis access to the family’s belongings as payment for the killings. She now faces charges of capital murder and aggravated assault and is awaiting trial later this year. Prior to the killings, Davis had carjacked a man to obtain a getaway vehicle. After carrying out the murders, he drove off and later set fire to the vehicle in an attempt to destroy evidence. However, he left behind a cell phone, which was later recovered by police and used to track him down. He was arrested the following day.
Days after the attack, Davis was formally charged with three counts of capital murder and a single count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At the time of his arrest, he was already in custody for an unrelated case. Investigators later connected him to the homicide.
Williams was arrested in March 2022 and charged with three counts of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to police, Williams and Davis had been childhood friends. Authorities allege that Williams, still harboring resentment over her breakup with Lagway, orchestrated the robbery and killings, instructing Davis that he could take anything he wanted from the home.
During Williams' bond hearing, Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare revealed that Davis had FaceTimed her during the murders. Prosecutors have announced they will seek the death penalty in Davis' case, which has now moved on to the sentencing phase. Williams, who has pleaded not guilty, is set to stand trial later this year.
