A tragic road accident in Indonesia’s Central Java province claimed the lives of 11 kindergarten teachers after a dump truck collided with a minibus and crashed into a nearby house, local authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

The deadly incident occurred in Kalijambe village, Purworejo district. According to local officials, the minibus was transporting a group of teachers from Magelang district who were on their way to attend a funeral in Purworejo. The dump truck, which was reportedly loaded with construction materials, lost control while descending a slope and slammed into the minibus before crashing into a residential home.

Purworejo Police Chief Andry Agustiano stated that the truck allegedly lost control prior to the impact and that police have launched a formal investigation into the crash. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, and ambulances were used to transport the deceased as well as several injured individuals, including the truck driver and the owner of the house, to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Indonesia continues to face a high rate of traffic accidents, often attributed to inadequate infrastructure and poor safety standards across many parts of the country.

The crash in Central Java follows another deadly road accident just a day earlier in West Sumatra province, where a bus carrying 34 passengers overturned after losing control, killing at least 12 people.

In a similarly devastating incident last year, a bus carrying 61 students and teachers returning from a school outing in Depok, near Jakarta, lost its brakes and crashed into multiple vehicles, resulting in 11 student deaths and dozens of injuries.
