A shooting at a Toronto pub left 12 people injured after three masked gunmen, armed with an assault rifle and pistols, opened fire inside the establishment.

The incident occurred at Piper Arms just before 10:40 p.m. when the suspects entered the pub and began firing indiscriminately at patrons.

Superintendent Paul MacIntyre of Organized Crime Enforcement described the aftermath as a chaotic and distressing scene.

“When you walk in, it’s eerie. Drinks and food are still on the tables, personal belongings such as purses and shoes were left behind. There’s extensive damage, shattered glass, and blood on the floor,” he said.

Emergency crews arrived to find 12 individuals, ranging in age from their 20s to mid-50s, suffering from various injuries. Six victims sustained gunshot wounds, while others were injured by flying glass. None of the gunshot injuries are considered life-threatening.

Surveillance footage captured the terrifying moment when patrons ducked for cover as gunfire erupted.

Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the attack. Initial reports indicated that the suspects may have fled in a silver vehicle, with one wearing a black balaclava. A command post has been set up as detectives continue to gather evidence and investigate leads.

“The motive for this shooting remains unclear,” MacIntyre stated. “This was a brazen and reckless act of violence that has shaken the community and the city.”

The Piper Arms, which recently reopened, was reportedly busy at the time of the shooting. Investigators are working to determine whether the establishment was specifically targeted.

Mayor Olivia Chow expressed concern over the incident, stating that all necessary resources have been deployed to support the investigation.

“My thoughts are with the victims and their families,” she said. “This is an early and ongoing investigation, and further details will be provided by law enforcement.”
