A 20-year-old married woman was brutally murdered by her lover in a lodge in Karnataka’s Mysuru district, India, after an illicit relationship turned violent. The accused allegedly killed her by forcing an explosive powder stick into her mouth.
The crime took place on Monday at Bherya village in Saligrama taluk. The victim, identified as Rakshita (20), was a resident of Gerasanahalli village in Hunsur taluk. The accused, Siddaraju, belongs to Bettadapura village in Periyapatna taluk.
According to police, Rakshita was married to a migrant labourer from Kerala but was simultaneously in a relationship with Siddaraju. The two had checked into a lodge, where a quarrel broke out. During the altercation, Siddaraju killed her using a chemical powder stick.

In an attempt to mislead investigators, Siddaraju initially claimed that Rakshita’s death was caused by a mobile phone explosion. However, locals grew suspicious, caught him as he attempted to escape, and handed him over to the police.
The Saligrama Police have arrested the accused. Mysuru Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhana N confirmed the arrest and said, “The victim was married to someone who is currently in Kerala, but she was in a relationship with the accused. We are investigating the motive behind the murder. He used a chemical powder combination, which is being analyzed by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to determine its exact nature.”
The investigation is ongoing, and police are probing further into the motive and the source of the chemical used in the crime.
