21-Year-Old Charged with Murder of 15-Year-Old Girlfriend on Day of Her Graduation
Trevor Bady, 21, has been charged with the fatal shooting of his 15-year-old girlfriend, Ahliana Dickey, just hours before she was due to attend her middle school graduation in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Bady pleaded not guilty to charges including murder, armed home invasion, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was held without bail after his court appearance on Tuesday.
Ahliana was found with multiple gunshot wounds in her apartment on the morning of June 14, the same day she was scheduled to attend her eighth-grade graduation. Her grandmother discovered her body and alerted authorities.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan confirmed that Bady and Ahliana had been in a relationship for some time, which was reportedly abusive. Police had been called to the area earlier that day due to reports of a male and female fighting, with gunshots heard and a female voice screaming, "Get off me, get away from me, I don't want to be with you anymore."
Video evidence allegedly showed Ahliana calling for help before midnight, and Bady leaving her home shortly after. He was identified through an Uber driver who had transported him to and from the scene.
Prosecutor Chris Tarrant told the court that an autopsy revealed Ahliana had been shot multiple times in the neck and torso. He also noted that on June 12, Ahliana had confided to someone that Bady had threatened to kill her and her grandmother, and to shoot up her house.
A GoFundMe campaign for Ahliana’s family has raised $12,000. Her parents, Scott Dickey and Stephanie Wetherbee, expressed their grief, stating, "Our family is hurting during this horrible tragedy. No parent should have to bury their child, especially not to a monster and coward who took an innocent life."
Bady is scheduled to return to court on July 30.
