A tragic traffic accident in Stuttgart, Germany, claimed the life of a 46-year-old woman and left several others injured after a black Mercedes G-Class SUV veered off the road and struck pedestrians at the Olgastraße/Charlottenstraße intersection around 5:50 p.m. local time on Friday, May 2.
The vehicle hit a total of eight people at the busy intersection south of Stuttgart's city center. Five individuals sustained minor injuries, while three were seriously injured, including the woman who later died from her injuries in the hospital. One of the victims required on-site resuscitation.

The 42-year-old male driver of the vehicle, who was uninjured, was arrested at the scene. Authorities have not released his name. Stuttgart Police confirmed that, based on current findings, there is no indication that the act was intentional. The incident is being investigated as a tragic traffic accident, and a forensic expert has been brought in to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Among those injured were children and a mother with a stroller. Hospital officials later confirmed that all injured children were out of danger by Saturday, May 3. One child had undergone surgery performed by trauma and oral-maxillofacial specialists and was receiving intensive care.

The Stuttgart Fire Department responded quickly to the incident, cordoning off the area and treating victims on-site. Emergency services remained active in the area as investigations continued.
This latest tragedy follows a similar incident just two months earlier in Mannheim, where another black SUV drove into pedestrians in the city center, resulting in one fatality and several injuries.
