A 38-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, when a bomb she was carrying detonated prematurely. Authorities stated the explosion occurred around 5 a.m. as the woman was reportedly en route to place the explosive device outside a nearby bank.

The blast caused extensive damage to nearby storefronts and vehicles but did not result in additional casualties. Emergency services and bomb disposal experts responded swiftly to the scene.
The woman, who died instantly in the explosion, was known to law enforcement for her involvement in multiple previous robberies. Police are actively investigating her possible affiliations with extreme leftist organizations, suspecting a politically motivated attack.

The incident has raised security concerns in the region, prompting heightened surveillance around financial institutions and increased efforts to monitor radicalized individuals.
