The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, praised the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, for his philanthropy and commitment to the gospel.

Adeboye made these remarks on Thursday during the Service of Songs for Wigwe, his wife, Doreen, and their son, Chizi, held at the RCCG Resurrection Parish, Lekki, Lagos. The trio perished in a helicopter crash in the United States of America in early February, alongside former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

Reading an excerpt of Adeboye’s condolence message at the service was Pastor Charles Pande, the Pastor in charge of Region 11 of RCCG and Head of the Blessed Family, who provided words of exhortation.

Adeboye’s message emphasized Wigwe's accomplishments as a professional, his exceptional qualities, and his dedication to philanthropy, nation-building, advocacy for children’s literacy, and the arts. He praised Wigwe's commitment to the Christian faith and his efforts in spreading the gospel, expressing deep grief over his passing.

The immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, paid tribute to Wigwe, recalling his genuine friendship and support. Osinbajo shared personal anecdotes, highlighting Wigwe's consistent concern for him and their discussions about future plans.

Osinbajo also reflected on the importance of relationships and the transient nature of life, offering words of comfort to the bereaved children and emphasizing the significance of faith in coping with loss.

Following events in Lagos, activities will proceed to Rivers State for the Christian Wake-Keeping at Wigwe University, Isiokpo, and a Combined Funeral Service at RCCG, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo. The series of events will culminate in a private interment ceremony and an outing service at RCCG, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo, on Sunday.

Dignitaries present at the Service of Songs included businessman Aliko Dangote, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, and several pastors and leaders from various churches, among others.
