Aig-Imoukhuede Returns As Access Holdings Chairman After 10 Years

In a significant leadership transition, Access Holdings Plc has announced the appointment of Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, as its new Non-Executive Chairman, replacing Mr. Abubakar Jimoh. Mr. Jimoh will continue as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board.

Aig-Imoukhuede, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s banking and finance sector, brings a wealth of expertise and leadership experience. His appointment follows the unfortunate passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, CFR, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings. After thorough consultations, the Holdco Board unanimously invited Aig-Imoukhuede to lead the organization.

During his tenure as Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank from 2002 to 2013, Aig-Imoukhuede, alongside his late partner, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, played a pivotal role in shaping Access Bank’s growth. They transformed it into one of Nigeria’s top 5 banks, expanded its presence across 9 African countries and the UK, and grew its customer base exponentially. The bank's asset base soared to USD $12 billion, solidifying its global recognition.

Since stepping down as CEO in 2013, Aig-Imoukhuede has been actively involved in various ventures, including co-founding the Tengen Family Office Limited and supporting initiatives through the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation.
