A man featured on 'America’s Most Wanted' has been apprehended following a relentless effort by his daughters who initiated a TikTok campaign to track him down, alleging he sexually abused two children.
Davie Albarran, 51, was taken into custody Sunday evening in Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, on charges of sexual battery of a child under 12 years of age and lewd conduct with a child under 12 years of age.
After 451 days on the lam, Albarran was found hiding in a shed, thanks to the determined campaign led by his daughters Ana and Yaneiry. Their initiative gained widespread attention on TikTok, amassing hundreds of thousands of views, and he was also featured on 'America’s Most Wanted'.
The sisters claim that since launching their campaign, they have been contacted by additional victims beyond the two cases for which he is formally accused.
Their quest began in 2022, when Albarran vanished after his daughters confronted him about allegations of assaulting a young female relative.
Ana took to Facebook out of desperation, publicly accusing him of the crimes and urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in his apprehension.
Over the ensuing year and a half, the sisters employed various tactics, including posting billboards, monitoring motels, conducting family interviews, and even securing his appearance on 'America’s Most Wanted' in December 2022. Their documented efforts garnered widespread attention on social media and local news outlets.
Ana Albarran, now in her 30s, disclosed in an interview with WOFL that her father had also behaved inappropriately toward her in her youth, and numerous other victims have since come forward with similar accounts.
The sisters asserted that not all family members supported Albarran, accusing some of his siblings of aiding in his concealment and harboring him in their homes.
They vowed to continue exposing any attempts to shield him and expressed unwavering support for the children who have spoken out against him.
Upon learning of his arrest, the sisters jubilantly filmed a celebratory video with their family, popping champagne and expressing relief and gratitude to their supporters.
Ana exclaimed, "We did it, guys. My father is behind bars after a year of perseverance. Thank you, because without you, he would still be at large."
She recounted her initial reaction to the news, saying, "I started screaming. I cried. I couldn't believe it."
Describing the arrest, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd remarked, "Well, he made a mistake. 'America’s Most Wanted' aired his face nationwide, and he ended up in Lakeland."
He credited confidential tips received by the Sheriff's Office, leading to Albarran's capture in a backyard on Country Haven Drive.
Despite Albarran's attempt to deceive officers by providing a false name, law enforcement saw through the ruse and apprehended him.
Details regarding his charges and trial are pending.
In December 2022, Sheriff Marcos Lopez emphasized the urgency of apprehending Albarran, referring to him as a "monster" and calling for justice to be served swiftly.
