Bail Granted for Ndifon,Suspended Unical Dean in sexual harassment trial
A Federal High Court in Abuja granted bail to Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar, UNICAL, on Friday, February 9th. The court also extended bail to his lawyer, Sunny Anyanwu, who was arraigned alongside him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
Ndifon was granted bail in the sum of N250 million with two sureties, while his lawyer, Anyanwu, received N50 million bail with two sureties. The professor and his lawyer are facing trial on amended charges of alleged sexual harassment and an attempt to pervert the course of justice.
During the bail hearing, Justice James Omotoso, the trial judge, emphasized that the defendants must submit an undertaking not to interfere with the case, demonstrate readiness to attend trial, and commit to avoiding delays.
The judge adjourned the matter until Monday, February 12th, for the continuation of the hearing.
