A tragic car crash has claimed the life of Superintendent of Police (SP) Mustapha Garba, a serving officer with the Bauchi State Police Command, as he traveled to his wedding ceremony. The fatal accident occurred on Saturday along the road between Gumau and Magaman-Gumau in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
SP Garba was en route to his own wedding fatiha in the company of three friends when the vehicle they were traveling in—a Mercedes Benz—lost control at Bargan Tsamiya. The car veered off its lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Opel Vectra.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, stated that the police and local responders rushed to the scene on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Sani-Omolori.
“The Command is in mourning. SP Mustapha Garba was on his way to attend his own wedding when the unfortunate incident occurred,” Wakil said. “He was accompanied by three friends when their vehicle lost control and collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.”
Following the accident, the Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer of the Toro Division to lead a team to the crash site and ensure that the victims were evacuated to Toro General Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, a medical doctor confirmed the deaths of SP Mustapha Garba and two others.
The bodies of the deceased have since been handed over to their families for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions. CP Auwal Sani-Omolori has expressed heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, offering prayers for comfort and strength during this painful time.
