Boyfriend Arrested for Fatal Shooting of Microbiology Girlfriend and Leaving a Trail of Blood to Her Remains

Michael Dutkiewitcz is accused of killing Alyssa Wiest

A 26-year-old Pennsylvania man, Michael Dutkiewicz, has been arrested and charged with murder following the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, 25-year-old Alyssa Wiest, over the weekend in West Conshohocken.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Wiest was discovered face down on the sidewalk outside her home shortly after midnight on Sunday. Responding officers arrived at approximately 12:30 a.m. and found her front door ajar, with blood inside the residence and along the path leading to her body. Wiest had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Dutkiewitcz had been dating Wiest for about two years

Authorities revealed that Dutkiewicz, who had been in a relationship with Wiest for about two years, was seen near his silver Ford F-150 shortly after the incident. He fled the area before police arrived. A neighbor provided the eyewitness account that helped identify him as a suspect.

An arrest warrant was issued, and Dutkiewicz turned himself in to law enforcement later that afternoon. He has been charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and possession of an instrument of crime. He was arraigned the same day and is currently being held without bail at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 27.

Wiest was a University of Delaware graduate and worked as a microbiologist. Her family released a statement mourning her loss and describing her as a “shining star” with limitless potential.

“Our family is heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved Alyssa, who was a shining star in every sense. Her bright spirit, boundless kindness, and the incredible promise she held for the future made her a beacon of hope and joy for all who knew her,” the statement read. “Her future was full of endless possibilities, and her tragic loss leaves a void that is impossible to fill.”
