British professional boxer Georgia O’Connor has died at the age of 25 following a battle with cancer. Her death was confirmed by her promoter, Boxxer, who described her as “a true warrior inside and outside the ring.”

“Georgia was loved, respected, and admired by her friends here at Boxxer,” the promotion company said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this difficult time.” Boxxer CEO and founder Ben Shalom also expressed condolences, saying, “My heart goes out to Georgia’s parents and partner, who I know did everything they could tirelessly and are going through so much right now.”

O’Connor had gone public with her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, revealing in a January 31 Instagram post that her symptoms were ignored by medical professionals for over four months. She described severe pain beginning in October 2023 and said her repeated pleas for scans and tests were dismissed. “I said from the start I felt it was cancer. I KNEW the risks. I have colitis and PSC, two diseases that dramatically increase the chances of getting it,” she wrote. “Not one doctor f------ listened to me… They gaslit me, told me it was nothing… They REFUSED to listen.”

She added, “And now? Now the cancer has spread.”

O’Connor had been living with ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), both chronic inflammatory diseases that increase the risk of certain cancers. Despite her health struggles, she remained undefeated in her professional boxing career after turning pro in 2021.

As an amateur, she had a decorated career, earning a gold medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, a silver at the 2017 Youth World Championships, and a bronze at the 2018 Youth World Championships.

Known for her candid posts on social media, O’Connor shared deeply personal moments with her followers, including a miscarriage she experienced before her cancer diagnosis. “The last few months have been a rollercoaster,” she wrote in February. “I’ve been pregnant with a beautiful baby, suffered a miscarriage, then got diagnosed with ‘incurable’ cancer. But I still feel on top of the world!”

Just days before her passing, she revealed that she had married her longtime partner, Adriano Cardinali. “09.05.2025. The day I married the love of my life. 🤍” she wrote alongside a photo of their hands together, her wedding ring visible beneath his.

O’Connor leaves behind a legacy of resilience, talent, and courage, both inside the ring and beyond.
