Authorities in Greece are investigating the death of a 67-year-old British man who died aboard a cruise ship docked in Corfu. The vessel, flying a Maltese flag, reported the passenger’s death to the Corfu Port Authority on Thursday morning.

The man’s body was transferred to Corfu General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. A preliminary investigation into the cause of death is currently being conducted by the Corfu Central Port Authority. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading to the death.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office confirmed they are supporting the deceased man's family and are in contact with Greek officials as the investigation unfolds.

The incident adds to growing concerns about British tourists in Greece, following the ongoing search for another British man who went missing on the island of Karpathos. The man was reported missing on Saturday after an accommodation owner realized he had not returned or made contact since the previous day.

Authorities launched a large-scale search operation, which includes the fire department, local police, volunteers, and residents. The man’s rental car was found abandoned in a remote area near Tristomo, a region known for its rugged and difficult terrain.

To enhance the search, a five-member specialized hiking team from Rhodes joined efforts on Wednesday. Aerial surveillance using drones has also been deployed. The missing man is believed to have gone hiking days before disappearing. The search is being conducted under challenging conditions, with daytime temperatures on the island reaching up to 34°C (93°F).

Authorities continue to search for the missing tourist as the investigation into the cruise ship death proceeds.
