A tragic incident occurred on Friday in Brooklyn when a two-story home under construction collapsed, resulting in the death of a 33-year-old construction worker, as reported by the police.

The incident took place at 1266 50th Street, near 13th Avenue, in Borough Park, just after noon. First responders found the worker unresponsive at the scene. According to the NYPD, the man was working on the home when the first floor suddenly collapsed.

Regrettably, he was pronounced dead on-site, and no other injuries were reported, as confirmed by the FDNY.

Disturbing footage captured the scene, with a multitude of first responders and onlookers gathering outside the construction site in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The cause of the collapse remains unclear, and ongoing construction had been documented at the residential site, according to city Department of Buildings records. Although a stop work order had been issued late last year, records suggest that the issue had been resolved.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the inherent risks associated with construction work, and investigations are likely underway to determine the circumstances leading to this unfortunate event.
