Security footage captured the dramatic moment when bystanders rushed to aid a mother trying to prevent a man from driving off with her two young children in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred on March 12 in the parking lot of a Department of Motor Vehicles office and was later released by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on April 24.

The video shows the mother frantically attempting to remove her two-year-old and six-month-old children from the back seat of a vehicle while a man tried to flee with the car. Several bystanders quickly intervened, helping her get the children out safely as the man continued to drive against her will. During the struggle, the woman and one of the children were dragged through the parking lot.

Thanks to the quick actions of the good Samaritans, authorities were provided with a detailed description of the suspect and the vehicle’s license plate. Police apprehended the 26-year-old suspect later the same day.

The man was charged with multiple offenses, including child abuse, false imprisonment, battery, possession of marijuana, and resisting an officer without violence. Authorities did not disclose whether the suspect and the woman were acquainted.
