The California Highway Patrol had been pursuing a silver BMW that was wanted for speeding late Saturday night in Los Angeles.

"The pursuit entered the West Los Angeles Area at speeds of approximately 85 miles per hour," noted the arrest report. "The suspect exited at Jefferson Boulevard, and the pursuit continued through several city streets at speeds ranging from 35 to 65 miles per hour."

Ultimately, the woman drove to Venice Beach, where she navigated through a parking lot, onto the sand, and into the ocean. The arrest report mentioned that two Boston terriers were also in the vehicle during this incident.

On Sunday morning, her car was hauled out of the water ¿ much to the bewilderment of passersby

Despite efforts to evade law enforcement, she swam a significant distance before being rescued by the Marina Sheriff Department and U.S. Coast Guard, according to the report.

The woman was taken into custody early Sunday and transported to a hospital for treatment. Animal control took custody of the two dogs following their rescue, as stated in the report.

CHP spokesperson Steven Salas indicated that she may face charges related to speeding and eluding authorities. It's unclear at this time if she has legal representation.

Law enforcement successfully retrieved the BMW from the ocean on Sunday, according to Salas.
