Superintendent Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh, a pastor at Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Ilerioluwa Parish, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Ogubode Quadri Adedamola.
Adedamola, a 28-year-old graduate of Political Science Education from Lagos State University and the CEO of Horlar Edu Consultancy, was reported missing on January 16.
His last known communication was with his girlfriend, informing her he was in front of CCC Ilerioluwa Parish, LASU 2, and would call back later. When police inquired at the church, the Shepherd denied knowing his whereabouts.

Investigators later discovered a ₦1.5 million transfer from Adedamola’s account on the day of his disappearance, with funds traced to the Shepherd, his daughter, and others. Initially denying involvement, the pastor later claimed the money was a Thanksgiving offering when confronted with evidence.
Further investigation led authorities to Adedamola’s buried body near the church premises, allegedly under the Shepherd’s supervision. A gun and an axe were also recovered at the scene.
