Benue State-born chef Tartenger Victor, popularly known as Chef Naira Victor, has potentially set a new Guinness World Record with a 135-hour cooking marathon (individual), pending confirmation from Guinness World Records.
Victor's culinary feat commenced on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, and concluded on Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024.
Throughout the marathon, hundreds of supporters and well-wishers at Tiger Bar, the venue opposite B Police Division, indulged in complimentary food. Additionally, meals were dispatched to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Makurdi and its vicinity, allowing them to savor Victor's creations.
Prominent figures, including the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, Hon Aondona Dajoh, among others, visited the cook-a-thon venue to sample the culinary delights.
If validated by Guinness World Records, Victor will surpass the current record holder, Irish chef Alan Fisher, who achieved a cooking marathon of 119 hours and 57 minutes. Fisher's accomplishment outpaced the previous record held by Nigerian Chef Hilda Baci by more than 24 hours.
