The body of a Colombian woman discovered dismembered on a Gran Canaria beach has been identified as 41-year-old Triana Arias. Authorities confirmed the arrest of a suspect — the owner of a well-known bar in Las Palmas — in connection with the brutal killing.
Arias was last heard from when she sent a text message to a friend saying she was going to a party. She was not seen alive again. Her dismembered remains were discovered on April 27 by a passerby on Los Enanos Beach in San Andrés.

Investigators believe Arias was stabbed in the neck before her body was partially dismembered. Forensic analysis suggests she may have been unconscious and bleeding out while her attacker attempted to sever her legs. Police also noted that part of her neck had been mutilated, potentially in an attempt to fit her remains into bags or a container before being left on the beach.
The main suspect, arrested on May 6 at his residence in Las Torres, is the owner of Arenales Bar Cafeteria in Las Palmas. Law enforcement conducted searches at both his home and his business premises, collecting several sealed bags of potential evidence. The bar has since been sealed off with police tape, and armed officers remain stationed at the location.

The homicide unit of the Armed Forces has taken over the investigation, and additional arrests have not been ruled out. The suspect is expected to appear in court on Wednesday or Thursday as the investigation progresses.
In an unrelated incident in the Canary Islands, a man in his late 40s fell to his death after plunging approximately 100 feet while attempting to take a selfie from a hotel rooftop in the early hours of Sunday morning. Emergency services responded quickly, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
