French authorities have arrested a 39-year-old British convicted sex offender for allegedly organizing a disturbing "mock wedding" ceremony with a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl at Disneyland Paris, where he played the groom. The elaborate event, which cost approximately €130,000 (over $151,000), included around 100 paid extras and was filmed privately before staff intervened.
According to Meaux prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier, the suspect used a stolen Latvian ID and falsified documents to book the event through Disney. The young girl, who arrived in France two days prior, was dressed as a bride in a white gown with her hair styled but was reportedly unharmed and not coerced into participating. The ceremony was halted after a hired extra playing the bride’s father alerted park staff, prompting police involvement.

The British national, who had professional makeup applied to conceal his identity, is already a convicted sex offender with prior offenses against minors and was wanted by authorities. Three additional individuals were arrested, including the girl’s 41-year-old mother, a 55-year-old Latvian man, and a 24-year-old Latvian woman who was to play the bride’s sister.
The suspect now faces charges of fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. Authorities have not disclosed at what point during the staged event staff intervened, but an active investigation is ongoing.
