A chaotic brawl broke out inside a Kansas courtroom after a grieving mother called for the harshest punishment for her 14-year-old son’s killer. The confrontation occurred on April 8 at the Sedgwick County Courthouse in Wichita, following the sentencing of 19-year-old Te’Bryis Robinson, who was convicted of murdering TrenJ’vious “Tubby” Hutton.

Jeanette Dees, 48, delivered an emotional victim impact statement before the court, asking the judge to impose the “maximum possible sentence” on Robinson. Her remarks, directed not only at the convicted killer but also at his family and supporters present in the courtroom, escalated tensions. Verbal exchanges and inflammatory gestures quickly led to physical violence.

The judge sentenced Robinson to 21 years and 3 months in prison for the murder of TrenJ’vious Hutton.

Courtroom surveillance footage captured the moment a member of Dees’ family stood up and struck a relative of Robinson in the face. The incident triggered a wider physical altercation between both families in front of the judge and courtroom staff. Court officers intervened immediately in an effort to restore order, with multiple people removed from the room as the fight unfolded.

Despite the outburst, the sentencing proceeded, and Robinson was given 21 years and 3 months in prison for the fatal shooting of Hutton. Following the incident, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that charges of disorderly conduct had been filed against several individuals involved in the brawl. These include Jeanette Dees herself, as well as Derrick Parker, 33, Trerntasia Hutton, 24, Trentez Hutton, 21, Trentavies Hutton, 18, and a 16-year-old minor.

Disorderly conduct in Kansas is classified as a misdemeanor, carrying a potential penalty of up to one month in jail and a $500 fine. The sheriff’s office and district attorney have not confirmed if additional charges or sanctions will follow.

The sentencing hearing was originally meant to provide closure for the victim’s family. Instead, it devolved into a volatile display of grief, anger, and unresolved tension between both sides of the tragedy.
