Driver crushed between 2 vehicles during road-rage fight in middle of Cross Bronx Expressway, wild video shows
A road rage incident unfolded on the Cross Bronx Expressway last week, as captured in a video circulating online. The altercation, occurring near Jesup Avenue during morning rush hour on March 5 around 9:30 a.m., involved two drivers embroiled in a heated confrontation.
In the video, apparently filmed by another motorist, a BMW SUV is seen cutting diagonally across a lane to obstruct a minivan. The BMW driver exits his vehicle, approaches the minivan's driver-side window, and exchanges words before striking the minivan driver.
After returning to his BMW, the driver is provoked by items thrown from the minivan, prompting him to exit his vehicle again and engage in further confrontation. This escalates into physical violence, with the BMW driver assaulting the minivan's occupant through the window.
Throughout the altercation, passing motorists slow down to witness the altercation, but no intervention is seen in the video until later. Eventually, the BMW driver returns to his vehicle, but the minivan driver attempts to enter the BMW's backseat. As the BMW attempts to drive away, the minivan driver becomes pinned between the two vehicles.
The minivan driver suffered a broken collarbone, according to police. Both vehicles involved have been traced to drivers in New Jersey, although it remains uncertain if the individual in the BMW during the incident owns the vehicle.
Interestingly, the victim did not initially report the incident to police, but authorities became aware of it through a Crimestoppers tip. While the victim is undecided about pursuing charges, the district attorney's office may proceed with charges independently.
Former New York City Council candidate Yin Tang shared the video on X, noting its circulation on Chinese social media platforms. The incident underscores the dangers of road rage and the need for swift action to address such incidents.
