Everyone Gets Crowned King or Queen at This Georgia Prom — and the Reason Will Melt Your Heart
The local park district recently hosted its second Super Star Prom, honoring individuals with disabilities. Over 70 adults were crowned Prom King or Queen at the event held on Feb. 24 in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
According to Jane Jarrett, program manager for the Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Department, the evening was magical with non-stop dancing and a vibrant atmosphere.
Guests ranging from 13 to 72 years old enjoyed a red carpet entrance resembling the Hollywood Walk of Fame and received glam treatments from Paul Mitchell Esani school.
Jarrett emphasizes the importance of such events in fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Attendees had a blast participating in games, prizes, and a photo booth, but the highlight was their time on the mic, making shoutouts and requesting songs before being crowned.
The event received heartfelt gratitude from attendees, including parents grateful for an inclusive prom experience for their children.
Jarrett hopes for more acceptance and community gatherings to celebrate diversity and fun together.
