A 37-year-old man was taken into custody in Fargo, North Dakota, after a physical altercation with three police officers that was captured on video and widely shared online. The suspect, identified as Joseph Manitowabi, resisted arrest and struck all three officers — including a female officer — before attempting to flee the scene.

The incident unfolded Saturday around 4:30 PM in downtown Fargo, after authorities received a report of suspicious activity via the city’s Real Time Crime Center. When officers approached Manitowabi, he allegedly became aggressive, broke free, and began throwing punches, landing blows on each of the officers during the struggle.

After briefly fleeing across the street, Manitowabi was apprehended following a short pursuit. He was arrested and faces multiple charges including assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The three officers involved sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital. Video of the encounter has since gone viral, with some online users speculating about political motives. However, local authorities confirmed that the altercation stemmed from a standard drug-related arrest attempt and had no political ties.
The case remains under investigation.
