Fishermen Catch Decomposing Body in Fishing Nets Off the Coast of Massachussets

A group of fishermen working off the coast of Massachusetts discovered a decomposed body while pulling in their catch approximately 40 miles from Boston.
The crew of the fishing vessel encountered the body on the morning of March 7 when they noticed their net was unusually heavy. As they unloaded their haul, they found the remains wrapped in a blue tarp and entangled with debris from the ocean.

Massachusetts State Police were the first to respond after the fishermen reported their discovery. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that the body is now with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The identity, age, and gender of the deceased have not yet been determined, and the cause of death remains unknown.
Authorities have not classified the case as a homicide at this stage, stating that conclusions will be drawn following the results of the autopsy. The Coast Guard is also involved in the ongoing investigation.
