Fitness Influencer and Her Date Fatally Shot by Estranged Husband Outside California Restaurant

A California fitness influencer and her date were fatally shot outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana, allegedly by her estranged husband, who was subsequently killed by an off-duty law enforcement officer.

Gloria Zamora, 40, was gunned down in a parking lot on Summit Avenue Saturday night alongside 43-year-old Hector Garduno. Authorities say Zamora’s estranged husband, 45-year-old Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, tracked the pair and opened fire during what was supposed to be a quiet evening out.

Fontana Police confirmed that Lizarraga first shot Garduno before turning his weapon on Zamora. The incident drew the attention of several off-duty law enforcement personnel in the vicinity, including an off-duty deputy from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office who responded immediately to the sound of gunfire.

The deputy confronted Lizarraga and fatally shot him on the scene. Zamora and Garduno were transported to a nearby hospital, where both succumbed to their injuries.

Zamora, a mother of seven and a rising social media personality with approximately 150,000 Instagram followers, had recently discussed the breakdown of her marriage publicly. In a podcast episode released just days before her death, she opened up about the toxic dynamics of her relationship with Lizarraga, claiming her growing success as an influencer led to tension and emotional mistreatment.

“Instead of being supportive, he’s over here trying to bring me down,” she told podcast host Isene, citing disparaging remarks Lizarraga had made about her appearance. The episode was later promoted online with the caption, “With husbands like these, who needs enemies?”

Garduno, a father of four, had reportedly been dating Zamora at the time of the incident. Friends and family described both victims as loving parents whose lives were tragically cut short.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and support has poured in for Zamora’s children through a GoFundMe campaign organized to assist with expenses in the wake of the tragedy.
