A Florida woman was arrested after allegedly holding two teenagers at gunpoint in Melbourne, Florida, on Friday, March 28. Donna Marie Elkins, 59, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault without intent to kill and two counts of false imprisonment, according to court documents.
Authorities responded to a call from Elkins at 9 p.m., in which she reported a disturbance on her property. She claimed that a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old were fishing on her property. During the call, she stated that she had “petrified them” and that they were “laying on the ground.”
Upon arrival, officers were informed by Elkins that she had walked into her backyard with a pellet gun in an attempt to scare the boys. She allegedly pointed the gun at them and threatened to “blow their heads off,” according to the arrest affidavit. The teenagers were ordered not to move and remained on the ground for five minutes until Elkins’ husband exited the home and disarmed her. The victims later told deputies they feared for their lives.

Two juvenile witnesses corroborated the events, stating that Elkins shouted and pointed the gun at the victims. One witness reported that the boys had entered the backyard to fish and were observing a bird in the pond when Elkins confronted them. The witness stated that they observed the victims lying on the ground while Elkins continued to yell. Authorities determined that the pond was approximately 30 feet away from Elkins’ property line.
Elkins was arrested and booked into the Brevard County Jail. She was released on Saturday, March 29, on a $25,000 bond. Her arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, at 8 a.m. at the Moore Justice Center in Melbourne, Florida.
