A Florida woman who said she was held captive for several months was rescued after leaving a desperate handwritten note in the bathroom of a Jersey Mike’s Subs in Navarre, leading to a police raid and the arrest of her alleged abuser.

On May 27, deputies from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from the sandwich shop, located about 66 miles west of Panama City Beach, after an employee found a suspicious, crumpled piece of paper tucked beside the toilet paper dispenser in the restroom. The note, written by the victim, pleaded for help and included her name and the address where she said she was being held against her will.

The employee, Eleanor Coffee, discovered the note and notified her manager, who contacted authorities. The victim stated in the note that she feared for her life and asked for a wellness check at the listed address.

Using surveillance footage, past case records, and witness statements, deputies identified the suspect as 34-year-old Jordan Williams. According to the sheriff’s office, Williams and the victim had a documented history of domestic violence.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at Williams’ home, where law enforcement officers found the victim. She reported being physically abused, threatened with a weapon, and isolated by Williams over a period of several months. Authorities noted she had visible injuries and transported her to a hospital for treatment, where she was found to have suspected broken bones and other trauma.

Williams was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, battery, and battery by strangulation. He is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail. It is unclear whether he has obtained legal representation.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that the woman’s quick thinking and the alert actions of the sandwich shop staff were instrumental in her rescue and the arrest of the suspect.
