A 34-year-old woman, reportedly a former contestant on the reality show Beauty and the Geek, has been charged with the murder of her partner after police discovered a man’s body at a home in Port Lincoln, South Australia, on Thursday, June 19.

Authorities responded to reports of a small fire at a property on Flinders Highway at approximately 3:25 p.m. Upon entering the residence, officers found the man deceased inside. The woman, who was present at the scene, was arrested and later charged with murder. She has not been named due to a court suppression order.

South Australia Police confirmed in a statement that both individuals were known to each other and lived at the address, adding that there are no ongoing community safety concerns.

“The investigation is still in its very early stages,” said Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott during a press briefing. “It is a very complex scene, and there are a range of factors that need to be examined. There are a number of things we still don’t know.”

The victim’s cause of death has not yet been determined. Police have indicated that the crime was not random and that detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Branch and Forensic Response Section have been deployed to assist local officers in the ongoing inquiry.

Following her arrest, the accused was taken to hospital for evaluation before being formally charged. She appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court via phone link on Friday, June 20, and remains in custody. A future court date has yet to be scheduled.

Neighbors expressed shock at the incident, describing the woman as “really nice, very pleasant, polite,” which heightened the community’s sense of disbelief over the alleged crime.
