German Woman Arrested After Eighteen Injured, Four Critical in Mass Stabbing at Hamburg Central Station

Eighteen people were injured in a stabbing attack at Hamburg’s Central Station on Friday, with four victims remaining in critical condition, according to authorities in Germany. The suspect, a 39-year-old German woman, was arrested at the scene and is believed to have acted alone.

The attack triggered a large-scale emergency response, with dozens of police and medical personnel deployed to the site. Hamburg police confirmed the suspect is in custody and is expected to appear in court on Saturday. She reportedly stabbed several people indiscriminately, targeting random passersby at the busy transportation hub.

Forensic experts were called in following the attack at the main train station in Hamburg, Germany.

Emergency services reported that six individuals sustained severe injuries, while seven others were lightly wounded. Investigators say the woman acted without any clear motive, and there is currently no evidence of political extremism. The attack comes amid growing concern over knife-related violence across the country, some of which has been linked to individuals with migrant backgrounds, increasing political tensions ahead of national elections.

Germany has experienced several high-profile stabbings in recent years. In January, an Afghan national was arrested after killing two people, including a child, in Aschaffenburg. In 2023, a Syrian man confessed to fatally stabbing three individuals during a festival in Solingen.
